About Us
Springboard Opportunity Group is a voluntary sector daycare provider, registered and inspected by Ofsted. It is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. The charity is managed by a group of elected trustees, many of which are parents of children who currently or formerly benefited from Springboard.
Springboard was formed in 1986 by a small group of parents living in North Somerset, who all had pre-school age children with special educational needs and could not find the support they required during the early years of their children's lives.
Since we started, we have worked with over 900 children and their families and we now provide a vital service for over 90 children and their families every week.
We work with a wide range of children with additional needs including those with autistic spectrum disorders, physical disabilities, sensory impairment, emotional and behavioural difficulties, communication difficulties and other learning disabilities.
We benefit from having a strong team of 27 qualified and experienced staff and a involve over 30 dedicated and hard-working volunteers. Our staff have built up a strong base of knowledge and expertise over many years, which we share with parents and carers and with staff in local authority pre-schools.
Springboard is the only organisation of its kind in the North Somerset area. Our services are tailored to the development needs of each child, enabling them to build the essential strong foundations that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.

About our staff and volunteers
• All staff working with the children have appropriate Childcare and First Aid qualifications. They also have a range of relevant special needs qualifications and many have years of experience in this field and all have received training in Makaton, the key word signing and symbols scheme.• We involve many volunteers who receive training and support. Volunteers are a valued and essential part of our team.
• Our adult to child ratios are 1:3 for all children. The ratio may be higher depending on the individual needs of a child and will be adjusted accordingly.
• All our staff and volunteers have received clearance by the Criminal Records Bureau and are deemed suitable to work with children.
